Inception of St Monica BEC began in 2006, under the leadership of Ms Lisha Kok, who was our first BEC Leader. It covers the residential areas of SS4 and SS4A. Prior to 2006, all Catholic families came under a single BEC known as SS4, which covered areas of SS4, SS4A, SS4B, SS4C & SS4D.
PATRON SAINT
Why was St Monica chosen as SS4/4A patron saint? Back then according to our first BEC Leader, the community was found to be not so prayerful and thus she chose St. Monica to help all families in the community to become more prayerful since she felt Saint Monica could teach us proper priorities for our lives and that includes prayer, alms, and sacrifice for others. St Monica is a reminder to all of us that we should be seeking the Kingdom of God and bringing others to Christ by our prayers and our example. The fruit of this patronage resulted in members becoming more willing to attend physical gatherings and end of year celebrations, as well as engaging in outreach activities to the needy.
